THANK YOU to the J.W. & M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation!

Thanks to two generous grant awards from the J.W. and M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation, the Perry Township Fire Department has been able to make two equipment upgrades.

With a grant awarded in September of 2025, PTFD was able to purchase a set of Holmatro rescue struts. These struts will help keep the public and our crews safe during a variety of emergency incidents and have been in service since February of 2026.

In February of 2026, PTFD was awarded a second grant for a new LIFEPAK 35 heart monitor. This new monitor will replace two monitors we currently use that are over ten years old.

In total, PTFD was awarded nearly $74,000.

In the 2025-26 winter season, the Perry Twp. road department recorded 14 snow events that required treatment of roads. The two employees logged approximately 115 hours of overtime, and were also assisted by the three trustees at various times. The paved roads use close to 6 ½ tons of salt per event, bringing total usage for the year to about 110 tons of salt used. The chip and seal roads use about 17 ½ tons of a salt/cinder mix per event, bringing the total usage for the year to about 250 tons of material used. During the larger event on January 25, workers drove nearly 600 combined miles to keep the 30 miles of township roads free of snow and ice.
