Joining the Fire Department
We are always accepting applications for part-time staffing and volunteers. Anyone that is interested in joining the department should stop by the fire station to pick up an application. Minimum requirements for part-time employment and volunteering are listed below.
Volunteer Fire and EMS Personnel
- 18 years old or older
- Satisfactory physical and drug screen
- Satisfactory driving record
- No criminal history
- Initial certification assistance provided by the fire department
Part-Time Fire and EMS Personnel
- 18 years old or older
- Satisfactory physical and drug screen
- Satisfactory driving record
- No criminal history
- Ohio FFI certification (FFII certification preferred)
- Ohio EMT certification (ALS certification preferred)
- EMS providers without a FF certification are required to be enrolled in a fire course within one year of employment
- Pay starting at $16.00/hr for FFI/EMT-B
Smoke/CO Detectors
We often maintain a limited supply of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Township residents are eligible to receive a smoke or carbon monoxide detector for free (proof of residency required). Call the fire department to check on the availability of detectors.
Open Burning Regulations
Any open burning conducted within the township is subject to rules and regulations set forth by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Regulations to consider before open burning include
- Most open burning is prohibited between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the months of March, April, May, October, and November.
- Temporary burn bans may be put in place outside of the months listed above.
- Local governments and fire departments can establish their own open burning regulations.
- Residents can be held responsible for damages caused by fires they ignite.

Ohio EPA Open Burning Regulations
Knox Box
A Knox Box is a secure key box that allows first responders to quickly access a building during an emergency. They typically contain access codes or keys that allow first responders to gain entry while causing the least amount of damage possible. Knox boxes can only be opened by the fire department and are available for both commercial and residential properties. For more information, click on the link below. Apparatus
We currently maintain a fleet of six vehicles, each with its own unique set of capabilities: Medic 1202, Engine 1201, Rescue 1204, Tanker 1207, Brush 1203, and UTV 1201.
Medic 1202 is a Horton Type III ambulance built on a 2003 Ford E-450 chassis. It is an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance and responds to all EMS calls within the township.
Engine 1201 is a 1998 Pierce Dash. It is equipped with a 2000 GPM pump and carries 1500 gallons of water. Engine 1201 responds to all reported structure fires and fire alarm activations.
Rescue 1204 is a 2004 Sutphen Shield. It is equipped with a 1500 GPM pump and carries 750 gallons of water. Rescue 1204 is also equipped with the department’s extrication tools and rescue equipment. It responds to all motor vehicle accidents, vehicle fires, and structure fires.
Tanker 1207 is a 2007 Pierce Contender. It is equipped with a 1250 GPM pump and carries 3500 gallons of water. Tanker 1207 responds to all structure fires, vehicle fires, and grass fires.
Brush 1203 is a 2007 GMC Sierra 3500. It is equipped with a 200 GPM pump and carries 200 gallons of water. Brush 1203 responds to all grass fires and is used as the department’s EMS first responder vehicle.
UTV 1201 is a 2021 CFMOTO UFORCE 1000. It is equipped with a 105 GPM pump and carries 70 gallons of water. UTV 1201 is also equipped to extricate patients from remote areas. It responds to all grass fires and reports of missing persons.
